What is a job transfer

A job transfer can be simply addressed as a lateral movement from one job to another job within the same grade. Sometimes it’s done with the increment of salaries, other facilities and job grade is normally called as a promotion. As mentioned by Flippo “a transfer is a change in the job (accompanied by a change in the place of the job) of an employee without a change in responsibilities or remuneration”.

A job transfer can be assigned by the employer and sometimes requested by the employees.




Why do we need job transfers?

A transfer in a job may occur due to many practical reasons. These reasons can be beneficial for both the company and the employee. Considering these benefits, is mandatory to discuss the importance of job transfers.

 

1.     A change in life

Some people may need a transfer in their jobs due to a change in life. These changes may be educational opportunities or personal changes like shifting houses and marriage.

 

2.     Development and growth

A job transfer may result in developing skills with the help of new challenges, opportunities and responsibilities in a new location or department. As a job transfer results in growth and development of a person this has become a good reason.

 

3.     Promotion

With job transfers a person is open to lots of experiences in various departments. Thereby he gets the ability to play a variety of roles in different positions. This makes him an attractive applicant for a promotion to a higher level.

 

4.     Job security

Sometimes the changes of jobs within the company may happen. Due to this one’s job may be in stable. In a situation like this a transfer in the job will be suitable for the stability of the job and the employer gets the chance to select the best employee from the pool created inside the company.

 

5.     Self-satisfaction

A person sometimes may find it not interesting to do the same job for a long period of time and they will think of shifting to another job in a different company. But if the person can get a chance for a job transfer within the company, both the person and the company gets benefits. The employee can get new experience with the same familiar environment. Thereby the company gets the ability to get the best potential out of the employees.

 

6.     Work-life balance

A person needs a job transfer to get a change to allocate more time on him and family. This may refresh the employee and allows him to function properly as a productive person, which benefits the company.

 

7.     Workplace conflicts

As a solution for conflicts within the employees, the Employee Relations Officers of a company may suggest an internal job transfer. This may result in better flow of the company production and also the stability in the company culture.

 


Job transfer plays a major role in checking workers from performing influence accomplishments for private benefit. Consider the bond between workers’ performance capacity errors and the duration of job tasks when workers can engage in inspiration activities.

  11. Transfers benefit both employees and organizations, and they can be initiated by either the company or the employee. Employees are transferred by companies with the purpose of getting additional knowledge and experience. Employees request transfer for the same reason or a change in their working environment. However, in order to avoid conflicts, a better understanding or agreement is required. well done.
